THE THESIS
The best mentorship is operator-grade, not general-purpose.
A generalist mentor answers your question with their framework. An operator who has shipped the thing answers it with the scar tissue. Founders need the second kind. We do not do the first.
Mentorship is not a monthly call on a calendar. It is the right voice in the room the moment the question lands. We match against the question, not the hour.
THE SHAPE OF IT
What mentorship at Angel Club is, and what it isn't.
We scope this tight because scope is how mentorship stays honest.
WHAT IT IS
Bench strength, matched to the moment.
— Unlimited introductions to investors and operators in the network.
— Matched against a specific question, stage, or sector.
— Conversations on your cadence, not a fixed call rhythm.
— Pressure-testing strategy, positioning, pricing, hiring, fundraising.
— Board prep, board construction, and recruiting for seats.
— Hard conversations rehearsed before the real one.
WHAT IT IS NOT
Things we refuse to sell you.
— A course, a curriculum, or a cohort.
— A dashboard of mentors you book unsupervised.
— Therapy. Coaching. Life advice.
— Guaranteed introductions to specific investors on your wish list.
— A replacement for a real CEO, CTO, or Head of Sales.
— Anything that depends on the mentor, not on the match.
THE BENCH
Who is actually in the room.
We do not publish names. The bench changes as the network grows, and anonymity protects the quality of the conversations. Categories, instead.
ANGELS WITH EXITS
Founders who built, sold, and stayed.
Acquired companies, clean exits, and the judgment that comes from having signed the paperwork. They know what a founder should never optimise for, because they did and regret it.
INSTITUTIONAL INVESTORS
Partners from funds raising and deploying today.
Active GPs who read hundreds of decks a month. Useful for positioning, pricing, and the conversation before the conversation.
OPERATORS AT SCALE
Execs from AWS, BBC, Paramount, and beyond.
People who have run the function you are now hiring for. They know the interview signals, the compensation bands, and what failure looks like in the first ninety days.
BOARD MEMBERS
Independent directors from public and private companies.
People who have sat on both sides of the table and held the tension. Useful when board construction, committee design, or a tough governance moment is imminent.
FUNCTIONAL SPECIALIST
Go-to-market, finance, legal, product, engineering, design.
Depth on the question in front of you. Not generalists, not coaches. People whose first answer is usually a question back.
VENTURE STUDIO OPERATORS
People who build companies for a living.
Founding partners and builders from venture studios across four continents. Useful when the problem is structural, not tactical.
Every profile above is a real person in the Angel Club network. Anonymity is for them, not for us. You will meet the specific people when you are matched.
HOW MATCHING WORKS
From question to match, in days, not weeks.
You write to us with the question. We send you the person. You take the call. That is the entire process.
01
You write the brief.
Two or three paragraphs. The question, the context, and what a good answer looks like. Keep it specific. We read it carefully.
02
We match.
We pick from the bench. Usually one person, sometimes two. We choose for depth on the question, not calendar availability.
03
Warm introduction.
We introduce you by email. The mentor expects the conversation. You set the time directly.
04
Follow-up, when it serves.
Some questions are one call. Some become ongoing. You stay in the driver's seat. The bench does not ghost, and neither should you.
BOARD BUILDING
Advisory and actual boards, built deliberately.
Most founders build boards the wrong way. They recruit friends, fund managers, or someone a VC pushed in. We help you build the board your company actually needs.
ADVISORY BOARD
The first board, done properly.
When. Pre-seed through Series A. Before you have a fiduciary board, you can still have the room of people who sharpen your judgment.
How we help. We help you scope the seats against your real gaps, recruit the right people from the network, structure their involvement, and compensate them cleanly. We can draft advisor agreements through SeedLegals where helpful.
What to expect. Three to five advisors. Real people you will meet before asking. Quarterly cadence. Equity and conditions set for actual work, not vanity.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
When the round demands it.
When. You are raising a priced round and need to stand up a fiduciary board. The investors will take one seat. You will need to decide the rest.
How we help. We help you think through board composition, independent director recruitment, committee design, and the first meeting agenda. We are not a board search firm. We are the room that has sat on a lot of them.
What to expect. Candid pressure-testing of board construction. Introductions to independents where we have conviction. Strong opinions, held loosely.
HOW TO ACCESS
Mentorship and advisory are a member benefit. Here is how you get in.
We gate mentorship on purpose. Every hour spent on a founder is an hour not spent on another. The gate is what keeps the bench willing.
QUESTIONS WE GET
What founders actually ask.
